The End
A few days ago, I finished up my first full traveler's notebook. My actual first traveler's notebook had to be abandoned unfinished because I pasted too much into it and the binding failed. The binding is two staples, so I guess it's not that surprising. I'm looking for a company that makes traveler's notebooks with stitched binding. I think that might help.
Anyway, I managed to finish this notebook without ruining the binding. A couple tips I picked up in traveler's notebook classes offered by Studio Calico have helped. Once I finish a layout, I tape the next two pages together. That way any ink or stitching the went through to the back of my layout doesn't show, and the book ends up holding fewer layouts. I've also started printing full page photos on regular copy paper, which is much thinner than photo paper. The quality of the print isn't as good, but I don't really mind.
For this layout, I used a full page photo of some peonies at the farmers market as my left hand page, and on the right hand page, I made a collage using stamps, tags, washi, and some cut out bits.
These tag stamps are from my new favorite set. I think it came with a Studio Calico class. I can't stop playing with it.
I'm also really into incorporating manila mailing tags into my layouts lately. I really like the way this one turned out.
These next two are actually the last two layouts in the notebook, and despite the efforts I mentioned above, the notebook is stuffed pretty much to the limit, so I decided against full page photos or full page paper. These layouts are really simple as a result.
On this one, I just used two photos sized to 3x4. The photos on these two layouts are from a recent trip to Baltimore. I did a big spread about this trip on my 9x12 documenter album, and I accidentally printed these photos put twice. I hate to waste, and I found that I had a few more things I could say about the trip, so I put them into the traveler's notebook.
Aside from the photos, there's just a little stamping and washi on this layout. The last layout is just two pictures, some letter stickers, and a date stamp.
The letter stickers are white vinyl hardware store letters (which I love) on the cream paper, so they're a little hard to see, but I kind of like it that way. The letters are ghostly, which matches the title.
This one's basically just a little love note to the city of Baltimore, where I lived for a few years in the 90s, and which I still miss with all my heart.
Minimal stamping on this one, just the dates of the trip and one little heart on a photo.
And that's it for this notebook. I'd like to post a flip through video at some point, but this will require me to learn how to make a video. It will be one of my summer projects.
Thanks for stopping by!
