Summer Into Fall
One of my favorite things about living in New England is the changing of the seasons, and summer into fall may be my favorite of all. Some of my recent traveler’s notebook layouts document seasonal favorites. I used the September release from Kelly Purkey Shop for all of these layouts.
I couldn’t resist one last layout documenting the magical Newport Folk Festival. It’s one of my favorite summer events, and I’m still clinging to my memories of listening to Lucius, seeing David Crosby, and Shakey Graves, and the incomparable Jenny Lewis, and so many other amazing artists. On this layout, I just used lyrics from Dusty Trails by Lucius, with a full page photo of my seriously dusty feet.
I’m a little obsessed with this song, and with Lucius in general, and it went perfectly with my photo. The lyrics are typed on vellum, and I placed the quotation mark stickers underneath the vellum to highlight the quote.
The title is stamped twice, once in gray ink and once in black, offset slightly to give the text a shadow effect. This alphabet and number stamp set is called Oxford, and it’s part of the September release.
With this layout, I’ve shifted into full fall mode, complete with pumpkins and cozy blankets. It was just such a relief to have some cool weather after the hot, humid, long summer we had. I needed to record it!
I used the New Season stamp set, designed by Life Love Paper to cover half my page in text, and add some “yes” bubbles.
And I guess I really liked this peach and white color block grid paper because I used it on both of these layouts! It comes with the September traveler’s notebook kit.
Finally, this release included a fun Halloween mini kit designed by Life Love Paper, and I couldn’t resist using it to document some of my favorite past Halloween costumes.
Because how cute are these bats? I made a grid with my photos, and used label stickers to include the years.
I still don’t know what I’m going as this year, and I guess I’d better figure it out. I’ll never beat my Crow costume. That make-up was amazing! (I didn’t do it - I’m not that talented.)
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and check out the shop if you like the products I used to make these layouts!
